Day 1: 24th April with Pascal Lee Rhony Denis Li Lung Hok Jul Mercier:
Landed at around 11… Quick stop to the hotel to drop our belongings, we head out on a wild goose chase for Kheops, which is supposed to serve, what Pascal claims, the best kebabs in town. Snag is, last time Pascal was around, was… … … 14 years ago...we do make it to the place, only to be greeted by rusted rollers shut closed… Place has probably run out of business :(
:(
:(...and we are forced to fall back on some emergency mciddies type food…note to self for next time, this is not mauritius, and orangina is served here by the cups
:-)
:-)
:-) with no ice please
😝...

Meet juls (denis's cousin who is joining us on our adventures) at the hotel, and we drive off to ‘la montagne’ climbing spot, for a short impromptu introductory climb. The obvious (according to our brand new climbing book with fancy photos and coloured routes) 10 spot parking, supposed to be the setting off point, is not obvious at all, and we get lost on the way
:-P please all note, I wasn't driving, nor was I the navigator
:P
Side Note: not sure I can drive on the right (wrong) side of the road… Was doing some mental simulations on the road, and would have caused quite a few accidents!!!
So we do get to the parking… … ... eventually… … …. and after a small approach walk, get to the playground! more than 50 routes in 1 spot!!! Compare that with our measly 3 per spot in mauritius!!! All lead climbs!!!

The modus operandi here seems to be epoxy glued in anchor bolts… The old mechanical bolts have all been replaced. I guess we should learn from them
:)
Completed 4 routes:
4b which felt like a 5b…
5b which felt like a 6b!!
A couple of 5as which felt like 5cs.
All comparisons above are based on the relative mauritian grades
:P
:P
:P
Shed some skin on a 6a which we could not complete...but we will be back!!!
Denis and juls fared a bit better on their 6b+....

Sweeping darkness and screaming hunger cuts the session short. The pizza at the ‘la redoute’ stadium was a good choice
:-) mind the Monday discounts though...won't elaborate more on that..it's just my first night here… … …
